Palazzo Gallo, also known as the ancient Palazzo Assanti-Aragona in Gallipoli, dates back to the year 1486. In 2012, it underwent a masterful restoration, carefully preserving its history and furnishings. The owners of the Palazzo through the years, from the Assanti to the Aragona, from the De Tommasi to Vincenzo Gallo who owned it from the mid-1800s, distinguished themselves as illustrious men and, above all, as patrons supporting artistic activities. The Palazzo has ancient origins (1486), even though it has undergone significant transformations over the years. Traces of the earliest settlements are still visible in the Aragonese suite, where the original masonry has been the subject of a careful and meticulous restoration, bringing new splendor to the old wall facing through a skillful use of lighting and crystal glass walls. Each suite, just like the entire palazzo, is strongly characterized by the presence of references to Lecce stone, Salento Baroque culture and style, with unique period furniture and details. Finally, on the lower floor of the property, there is an ancient underground oil mill that makes the history of the Palazzo even more fascinating.
